As one of the RDCA’s biggest clubs, Wonga Park CC also has a strong presence in Veterans cricket.
We have a proud history of participation and success in vets cricket, including recent premierships in A Grade o50’s in 2016/17, and a famous victory in 2018/19 in the top grade Saxon Sports Shield in the newly formed o50’s Veterans Cricket Victoria competition.
This season (2020/21) we have four veterans sides:
- 2 sides in the RDCA Over 40’s
- 2 sides in the VCV Over 50’s Legends
Whilst most of us are still competitive beasts, everyone who plays vets cricket is playing for the pure enjoyment factor of what we believe to be the best team sport in Australia. What better way to escape work/domestic duties, rediscover old skills or create new ones, banter with players in your own age group, and enjoy a frothy afterwards…
We are blessed to play our home games in the fresh air and beautiful surrounds of Wonga Park Reserve.
The season is generally 7 games (played fortnightly with a break for Christmas holidays) plus finals.
Wonga Park Cricket Club welcomes new members, whether seasoned cricketers, or those new to the game looking for something less bruising than football, but more exciting than golf….
